Is New Zealand’s "Zero Carbon Milk" a gimmick? The reporter personally measured that the first "carbon transaction" in life is only 1 cent.

When visiting the exhibition in China International Import Expo(CIIE), if you see someone carrying a green environmental protection bag with the mascot of Jinbao, you must give them a compliment! Because they "pay the bill" for the carbon emissions during the exhibition, and the environmental protection bag is a small gift of carbon neutrality.
According to the reporter’s observation for many days, from the debut of the 4th China International Import Expo(CIIE) "Zero Carbon Booth" to this year’s "Zero Carbon Exhibits",The concept of zero carbon is no longer a gimmick, but has become a real concept change under the goal of "double carbon".
50,000 people participated in the carbon neutrality of Bo.
According to reports, exhibitors, professional visitors and volunteers of the 5th China International Import Expo(CIIE) can participate in the "Zero Carbon Expo, Zero Plastic Expo" carbon Pratt & Whitney Action, record the carbon footprint at the time of participation and calculate the personal carbon emissions. By purchasing carbon assets for neutralization, they can obtain the exclusive "Carbon Neutralization Certificate for Expo Participation" and exchange them for exquisite gifts.
The reporter personally experienced it.After carbon calculation, carbon offset and other steps, the first "carbon transaction" in life was completed.
Enter the "carbon calculation" link through the official QR code, just fill in the area where you live and the main means of transportation you take in China International Import Expo(CIIE), and the system will estimate the carbon emissions generated by transportation. According to the relevant accounting standards in the Guide to Carbon Neutralization for Large-scale Events (Trial) and the Guide to National Greenhouse Gas Inventory, the reporter’s carbon emission from participating transportation is 2kg. According to the average price of carbon matching transactions in the national carbon market from January to August, it needs 0.12 yuan for carbon offset, of which 0.11 yuan is donated by the sponsoring enterprises, and the reporter only needs to pay 1 cent to get the exclusive "Carbon Neutralization Certificate for Entering Expo" issued by Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange.

Since its launch this year, Jinbo Carbon Pratt & Whitney has been supported by many exhibitors. According to the data provided by the organizer,From November 5 to 7, about 50,000 people participated in three days.
Last year, the 4th China International Import Expo(CIIE) launched the carbon-neutral project for the first time, and China Pacific Property & Casualty purchased 43,174 tons of carbon assets through the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, which offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the 4th China International Import Expo(CIIE), and designed "accidental carbon-neutral insurance" to guarantee the bottom. After the final accounting, the final emission of greenhouse gases produced by the 4th China International Import Expo(CIIE) is 31,642 per ton of CO2 equivalent, which is less than 43,174 per ton of CO2 equivalent of purchased carbon assets used to offset neutralization, thus achieving "zero carbon entry" successfully.
Cow burping is also a "big family" of carbon emissions.
In China International Import Expo(CIIE) this year, the words "zero carbon" have increased a lot compared with last year, and "zero carbon booth" and "zero carbon exhibits" are no longer unusual.
Kesichuang, a German chemical company that first introduced the concept of "zero carbon booth" last year, will further reduce emissions on the basis of zero carbon this year."Our booth area this year has increased by about 70% compared with last year, but the greenhouse gas emissions per unit area of the booth have decreased by about 30% compared with last year."Xiang Qing, the Asia-Pacific Director of Corporate Communications at Costron, introduced that Costron will offset these carbon emissions by purchasing carbon credits, thus achieving a zero-carbon booth.

The reporter noticed that a "Carbon Neutralization Certificate" of Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange was also placed on the booth in johnson controls. The greenhouse gas emissions generated during the preparation, exhibition and closing stages of China International Import Expo(CIIE)’s exhibition have been offset by the voluntary emission reduction of 3 tons through the Shawan Hydropower Station project in Dadu River, Sichuan Province, and the carbon neutrality goal has been achieved.

In addition, the "openblue Zero-carbon Building Solution" exhibited in johnson controls can also help the "big emitter" construction industry achieve the zero-carbon goal. Yang Guang, vice president of johnson controls and general manager of China District, said that openblue is like the "energy brain" of a building. It records the data of energy consumption, water consumption, material consumption and greenhouse gas emission of a building in real time through sensors, traces and analyzes it through a professional monitoring and reporting platform, and then generates a carbon-neutral scheme suitable for customers.
According to statistics,The energy consumption of the construction industry accounts for 47% of the total energy consumption in China, and its carbon emissions account for 51% of the total carbon emissions."While tracking carbon emission data, openblue can also be linked with various devices to automatically adjust energy consumption and reduce unnecessary greenhouse gases. For example, when the air quality is good, the building automatically turns on the natural ventilation system to reduce the demand for electricity, and when the air quality is poor, it automatically turns on the purification system to ensure the health of indoor people. " Yang Guang said.
The reporter was surprised to find that zero-carbon milk and zero-carbon butter were found in the Fonterra booth in Hall 2.2, among which zero-carbon butter has been sold as raw materials in China market.

Shen Qiuhua, marketing manager of Fonterra’s raw materials business, told reporters that according to the determination of authoritative organizations,Fonterra’s carbon footprint is 70% lower than the global average and 46% lower than the average of major milk producing countries."Because New Zealand dairy cows are mainly farmed in pastures, not in factories, and they rarely need feed, the carbon emissions consumed are extremely low."
But what the reporter didn’t expect was that the main carbon emission of dairy industry came from the excrement of dairy cows. According to Shen Qiuhua, as a ruminant, cows produce methane gas mainly through burping during digestion. Due to the decomposition of urine and feces produced by cows and applied fertilizers, pastures also emit nitrous oxide.Methane and nitrous oxide are both important greenhouse gases, accounting for most of the carbon emissions in dairy production.
In order to reduce methane emissions, scientists are identifying strains that can help reduce methane in dairy cows. Among them, Fonterra is developing a fermentation strain named kowbucha to reduce or even eliminate methane-producing microorganisms in dairy cows’ digestive system, and is currently conducting a number of pasture experiments.
A small printer can reduce carbon by 600 thousand tons
With the continuous landing of the goal of "double carbon", "carbon neutrality" is no longer the concept on the booth. In addition to purchasing carbon assets and carbon emissions, the zero-carbon goal is gradually infiltrating into daily industrial production and citizens’ lives.
According to Yang Guang, johnson controls combines the advantages of industrial waste heat recovery, heat pump and high-efficiency refrigeration equipment to provide comprehensive energy utilization solutions for customers in China, so as to realize the cascade utilization of energy. Taking the central heating project of Tangshan Huarun Fengrun Thermal Power Plant as an example, Jiangsen automatically supplied by waste heat recovery, which increased the heating capacity of the thermal power plant by 33% under the same coal consumption and power generation, and recovered waste heat of 435,000 Ji Jiao in a single heating season (running for four months), saving 14,900 tons of coal and reducing the water supply of the cooling tower of the power plant by 300,000 tons.
Taking printers closer to citizens’ lives as an example, Liu Yi, a staff member of Epson, showed reporters a set of comparisons-The traditional laser printer is placed side by side with the cold-printing ink bin printer, and the thermal imaging camera is used to monitor the heat emitted by the machine in real time. The results show that the temperature of laser printer equipment changes obviously, and the printing paper temperature rises to 40℃, while the ink bin printer is still at room temperature."In the printing process, the Epson ink-bin cold printing printer only needs the simple step of inkjet, while the laser printer involves multiple heating links in operation, which will inevitably generate more energy consumption."

How low is the energy consumption of the ink bin cold printing printer? A 12000 mA charging treasure can drive the printer to work continuously. "One-time power can make ordinary light bulbs work for 3 days and led light bulbs work for 19 days, which can make this Epson ink bin printer print 2600 pages, which can meet the needs of a company for 50 days." Liu Yi also said that the energy consumption of cold printing technology is reduced by about 90% compared with the traditional scheme. At present, more than 70 million sets of Epson ink cartridge printers have been sold worldwide, reducing carbon emissions by about 600,000 tons.
